Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  Do you provide remodeling services?

A.  Yes.  Stone Aspen is a full service residential general contractor. We build and renovate homes and finsih basements. For more information on our remodeling capabilities Click Here.

Q. We couldn’t find answers to some of our questions. Will you help answer them?
A. Certainly. Please email or call us. We represent the home building industry and want to make sure that all homeowners are taken care of, regardless of budgets, style, size of home or if you use our services.

Q. Do you provide estimates?
A. Yes. Over a brief phone conversation we can answer additional questions and set up a time to discuss your vision and our procedures for estimating.

Q. Will you quote a price per square foot?
A. No.  Our homeowners are the only ones with the authority to determine the final price per square foot of their custom home or remodeling project - as they have complete control over their home site selection, architectural features and  level of finish desired.

Q. Where does Stone Aspen build?
A. We have the capabilities to build throughout Colorado, but our homeowners primarily build in Douglas County, Denver, the surrounding area. We have experience building high country resort homes.

Q. Will you consider building in another area?
A. Yes. Depending on our current work load, we have the ability to manage projects throughout the Front Range.  We can formulate and mobilize a team to accomplish your vision.

Q. How many homes a year does Stone Aspen build?
A. We feel comfortable building no more than 2-4 “custom” homes per year. We will not sacrifice our craftsmanship and service standards for profit.

Q. Do you work with out-of-state homeowners?
A. Certainly. We are experienced building for out-of-state homeowners. We have tailored our selection process to meet the needs of our resort and relocation homeowners. If need be, we can fly to your location for meetings.

Q. What should I expect will be my financial investment in a Stone Aspen home?
A. We have worked with homeowners’ that require a construction investment of $400K and homeowners’ whose construction investment is well above that amount. None of our homeowners’ required the same financial investment, but we were able to deliver a Stone Aspen home within their financial expectations.

Q. What size homes does Stone Aspen design and build?
A. We have the experience and capabilities of building all size homes. This question depends on our homeowners’ vision.

Design & Building

Q. We own our home site and architectural drawings. Will Stone Aspen work with us?
A. Absolutely. This is common and we have modified our delivery system to meet your needs.

Q. Will you build from plans out of a plan book or from an on-line database?
A. This depends. We feel that a home needs to be site-specific, properly designed and engineered around our homeowners’ vision. However, looking through on-line databases or plan books is a good place to start for ideas. We can take plans out of a plan book and "re-design" the plan to compliment our homeowners' vision and adhere to local building codes.

Q. Will Stone Aspen build another builder's or architect’s home plans?
A. This depends. If you “own the rights” to a set of architectural plans or have hired an architect to design your home, then yes. We will not duplicate plans or floor plans unless arrangements are made to purchase the copyright from another builder or architect.

Q. Can I make changes or upgrade materials during construction?
A. Certainly. We welcome your ideas and input throughout the construction process, and we remain flexible and willing to accommodate changes.

Home Sites & Planning

Q. We own our home site, but don’t have architectural drawings. Will you work with us?
A. Absolutely. Most homeowners purchase their home site prior to contacting a builder or architect.

Q. Does Stone Aspen have available home sites?
A. Sometimes. Since we are custom home builders we do not build pre-designed homes. Therefore, we rarely purchase home sites. However, if we come across a remarkable home site at a good value, we might purchase the site and make it available to our homeowners.

Q. Will you work with my Real Estate Broker while we search for a home site?
A. Yes. We have developed great relationships with our homeowners’ Real Estate Brokers and strongly suggest you work with a reputable builder prior to purchasing your home site.
